About Alchemy Tintype Studio

Hi, I’m Ashley Jennings. Growing up in a spooky fixer-upper of an 1880’s Victorian home shaped my fascination with the thoughtful, focused, obsessive, and complicated ways our ancestors made their world. With a modern and progressive social context in mind, I’m passionate about using the earliest Victorian-era photographic processes to create true heirloom photographs. I endeavor to make sure my studio is a safe and kind space, and all who share those values are welcome in front of my lens.

I’ve been focused on making wet plate collodion photographs (also known as tintypes and ambrotypes) in Portland since 2017, although I also offer film photography and digital photography services as well.

I’m available for commissioned portraiture & artistic collaborations, both at my studio in SE Portland (located upstairs at Urbanite) or out in the world! Let’s chat about your ideas to see if they align with the limitations & peculiarities of this 170+ year-old process.

If you have an idea that doesn’t align with any of the appointment types available on my appointment page, or if you’d like to inquire about bringing me to your home for a home session, please reach out below.

If you’re thinking about incorporating tintype into your wedding or elopement plans, you can visit my film photography and commercial wedding photography website here to see more of what I offer.
